                            All about cotton.                                    

Cotton - the fibre of a phytogenesis received from boxes of a cotton - plants of sort Gossypium, that in transfer from Latin means «a tree giving a cotton»

English «cotton» has occurred from Arabian «каттан», that meant a cotton, and Russian "хлопок" has occurred from a word "flakes".

The cotton has arisen approximately hundred millions years ago in malvaceaes family. Now on a planet exists thirty two wild and five cultural kinds of the cotton, united in six sections and two subkind according to their place of dwelling, feature of a life and appearance. Cultural kinds break up to nineteen subspecies, in each of which of hundred (!) annual and long-term, treelike, bush and grassy grades.

The cotton is one-or long-term grasses (the trees reaching heights to 7 metres) with large leaves, white, yellow or pink colours are more rare. Cotton fruits on maturing reveal on 2-5 segments and show the seeds shrouded in the most thin fibres in length from 15 to 55 mm, usually white colour. The more fibres long and more thin, the more they are valuable.

Between the tenth and twelfth week after crops of seeds there are the first flowers white or yellow shades. On maturing flowers will change the colouring on pink and violet (beauty flowers of cotton ancient Chineses have estimated still - in VIII century they grew up a clap as an ornamental plant). Almost at once after that the plant starts to drop capsules which bulk up till the size of an egg. Cotton maturing occurs on 5-7 week after flowering.

After gathering a cotton place on the sun for drying is it is necessary for branch of fibres from seeds. The stage of gathering of a clap demands essential expenditures of labour; however, in the most developed countries gathering occurs to use of special mechanical adaptations. On cotton-reprocessing enterprises (as a rule, they are removed enough from plantations) raw materials break and comb out before occurrence of a thin tape in which all fibres settle down in parallel.
